How to Tell That a 22 Carat Gold Bracelet is Real

Jewelry can express many things concerning a person, and it is always a popular way to add somebody bling for special occasions or brighten the mood for the wearer and those around them. For a majority of people, it represents the ultimate finesse. A bracelet is worn around the wrist, although at times it is worn around the ankle too. For a 22 carat gold bracelet, it is exquisite and valuable. It is not surprising that the bracelet attracts so much admiration and attention. Here are different ways to tell the 22 carat gold bracelet is real.

Visual Inspection

First look at it. Look for a particular sign that real point gold. Inspect the bracelet for official markings. A stamp on the bracelet will indicate the karat content and the fineness. An older piece might lack a visible mark due to wear, while counterfeit pieces can have a mark that appears authentic. You may also check for discoloration. Check for discoloration on areas that face constant friction. If the bracelet seems to be wearing off, it is more likely that you have a gold plated ornament.

Bite Test

Bite test is standard in movies. We have seen in one scenario where an actor bites it to prove it. The technique is also common in Olympics. It can be tested with moderate pressure. Real gold, 22 carats, will show dents from your teeth. A deeper marking indicates purer gold. This test is never recommended as you can damage your teeth. This is not a sure test as lead is softer than it and it might appear to be gold when you bite it.

Magnet Test

This is an easy test, but it is not a foolproof to determining whether the it is real. Strong magnets are helpful in performing this test. It is not a magnetic material. If the magnet pulls towards or sticks to the magnet, the gold bracelet is fake. Nevertheless, just because the it doesn't react doesn't mean it is real, as non-magnetic materials are used in counterfeit pieces as well.

Density Test

They're very few metals which are denser than gold. Measuring the density of your bracelets will help in determining if it is real.

More pure gold has more density. Perform the test on gold that has no gemstones of any kind attached.

Nitric Acid Test

This is where the term acidic test comes from. It is one of the greatest ways to check your gold. This test is quite risky and hard to perform due to the difficulty in acquiring the acid. It is best if this test is left for the jeweler.

Whenever you are seeing a 22 ct gold price, always test the gold to know its real. The jeweler can be of help always.
